International contacts of the Institute of Petroleum Chemistry SB RAS are being developed since 1981.

Collaboration is traditionally realized in the following directions:

• participation in symposia and exhibitions in Russia and in other countries;

• holding international conferences “Oil & Gas Chemistry”;

• scientific cooperation with foreign institutions within the framework of contracts and agreements;

• advertising R&D activities and promotion of new technologies to foreign market;

• visits of foreign specialists in order to get acquainted with innovations and technologies developed at the Institute.

Participation in the international conferences and exhibitions held both in Russia and in other countries has resulted in signing contracts and agreements on scientific collaboration in the field of enhanced oil recovery, petroleum chemistry and in environmental protection. At present the Institute performs 5 contracts and agreements on joint research with the institutions of USA, Mongolia, Yugoslavia and China.

In 2002 the scientists of the Institute participated in 20 international symposia and conferences in Russia and abroad and presented 66 papers.

International relations of the Institute are also extended due to the visits of foreign scientists and specialists. Thus in 2002 more than 20 scientists and specialists from China, USA, Yugoslavia, Great Britain, Germany and Mongolia visited the Institute to get acquainted with promising research and advanced technologies, as well as to establish business and scientific relations and for research training in petroleum chemistry.
