NOVEL TECHNOLOGIES AND SERVICES IN PETROLEUM CHEMISTRY

The Department of Oil Research, one of the largest teams of the Institute, includes 3 laboratories and 1 research group.

The specialists possessing a high skill in the field of petroleum chemistry -professors, doctors of sciences, engineers and researches - work at the Department. The Department of Oil Research possesses modern equipment and means to solve the problems at a high level.

On the basis of a comprehensive study of petroleum composition and properties the staff of the Department of Oil Research

• assesses the hydrocarbon content and structure of oil fields using bio- and geomarkers;

• determines residual hydrocarbon saturation, optimum conditions and terms of oil field exploitation;

• gives the recommendations to optimise the composition of commercial oil mixtures, their transport and proper refining;

• performs analyses at a certified laboratory and issues certificates of oil products compliance to state standards (technical conditions);

• develops certified procedures to perform the analyses of oil composition and oil products properties, gives the data and recommendations for process designs and installations intended for oil refining;

• develops technologies of industrial dehydration of oil without using synthetic demulsifiers;

• develops methods and technologies of catalystless refining providing for distillate fractions yield up to 80-95% from oil, up to 60-70% from bitumens.

• carries out comprehensive investigation of oils to prepare initial data for design of the installations for oil refining;

• performs the examination of technical and technological projects for hydrocarbons refining.
