ENERGY-SAVING Technology of OIL AND petroleum products TransportATIOn

‘VIOL’, an additive capable to reduce the hydraulic pressure by 20% when introduced into the turbulent oil flow at the concentration of 70 g/m³ has been developed.

‘VIOL’ is of a hydrocarbon nature and has no effect on the quality of oil and petroleum products. It is produced as a 10% polymer solution in gasoline.

The additive application allows one

• to improve the carrying pipeline capacity;
• to reduce the pressure differential in the operating pipe sector that enhances the pipeline reliability;
• to pump oil and petroleum products when the intermediate stations and pump units are switched off that results in the reduction of energy charges.

‘VIOL’ advantages:

• a possibility to use it for the transport of high-viscosity and high-paraffin oils due to the effect of the resistance reduction followed by the decrease in the heat exchange.

‘VIOL’ additive has been developed by the Institute of Petroleum Chemistry, SB RAS, in co-operation with the Tomsk Polytechnic University.

The development is protected by RF patent N 2075485.

The technology of the additive application has been approved during the tests on the pipelines ‘Alexandrovskoye – Anjero-Sudjensk’ and ‘Tikhoretsk – Novorossiysk’.

The additive is produced by the Tomsk Petrochemical Plant.
