POLYMER GELS WITH A PISTON EFFECT

INTENDED FOR PIPELINE TRANSPORTATION

 There have been developed the gels based on the water-soluble polymers possessing a piston effect of motion in the pipeline.

Polymer gels are provided for:
  • cleaning of the inner surface of pipelines from mechanical impurities and gas accumulations;

  • water removal;

  • application of anticorrosive coatings on the inner pipeline surface;

  • liquid-liquid, liquid-gas phase separation at the consecutive pumping and hydrostatic tests.

Gels advantages:
  • they may pass in the pipes of different diameters without being damaged;

  • they provide for a reliable hydraulic sealing;

  • they enhance the efficiency of chemical treatment;

  • they remove mechanical impurities;

  • their introduction does not require the application of standard scraper pig injection chambers;

  • The gels move in the pipeline due to pressure difference.

  • The polymer gel length in the pipeline varies from 3 to 7 meters depending on its diameter.
