EOR OF LOW PERMEABLE RESERVOIRS

BY IKHN SYSTEMS

WITH CONTROLLED ALKALINITY

A technology has been developed to intensify the development and to enhance oil recovery of low-permeable reservoirs of Jurassic and Cretaceous deposits. The technology employs IKHN systems based on surfactants and alkaline buffer.

IKHN systems are low-viscous and inflammable liquids with a low freezing point (-33 to -55 oC). They exhibit lower adsorption on reservoir rocks and are capable to increase the rate of fluid filtration 1.5-3 times. One can use IKHN systems in a wide range of reservoir temperatures (up to 130 oC) and brine salinity. They are also suitable for low permeably and highly heterogeneous reservoirs with permeability of 0.005 - 0.5 m m2. To develop offshore fields, one can deliver IKHN systems by tankers.

IKHN systems are adapted to the severe conditions in the north regions.

To date over 40 thou. tons of the systems have been injected in 14 test areas of West Siberian oil fields of. The injection has proved the systems to move as a single whole through the reservoir with gradual dilution. The frontal advance is accompanied by water cut decrease in the production wells by 5-30% to improve production index. Final oil recovery factor increases by 3-14%. The technology allows one to increase injectivity of the production wells 1.5-2 times. Additional oil recovery amounts to 20-30 tons per a ton of the injected system. It corresponds to 140-200 tons of oil per a ton of surfactant.

Jointly with Stock Company “KHIMEKO-GANG” Institute of Petroleum Chemistry RAS organised commercial production of IKHN systems.
