Patent Information Department of the Institute of Petroleum Chemistry is a part of the Institute's organizational chart since 1973.

The duties of the Department staff include:

• Protection of the subjects of the industrial property and copyright;

• Commercialization of the results of the scientific developments;

• Registration of the license agreements;

• Patent information support of the research activity;

• Advertising of the Institute's developments and organization of the participation in the exhibitions;

• Translations of scientific, patent and advertising information (English, French, German).

The stock of the patent literature may be used to carry out different patent searches, it has being formed since 1970 and consists of BNIIPI bulletins:

-    Official bulletins of the Russian Patent Office (Inventions, Discoveries, Industrial Samples, Trademarks) from 1978 to 1998.

-    Journals of Abstracts 'Patents abroad' and 'Patents worldwide' for the following classes of the International Patent Classification:

Reference and search tool available at the Patent Information Department provides for an effective quest of patent data necessary to carry out research.

The stock of patent law literature is represented by legislative and normative documents, instructions and methodic literature.
